Making payments online
- Is there a charge for paying online?

No. It's free. Just sign in to your account to make a payment.
- Once I pay online, will I have to pay this way every month?

No. If you pay online this month, you can make a phone payment or send a check next month.
When you pay online, you control the amount and date to deduct payment from your account. There are never any automatic payments.
- What types of accounts can I use to pay online?

A checking or savings account.
- ABA number: What is it and why do you need it?

The ABA—or routing and transit—number is a unique nine-digit number that identifies your financial institution.
We use this information to deduct the funds from your bank account. If the information is wrong, we can't process your student loan payment. So, be sure you enter all ABA and account information correctly.
You can save your bank account information for quicker online payments in the future.
- Where can I find my ABA (routing and transit) number?

It depends on the type of account you use to make your payment.
If you're using a... Then... Checking account: You can usually find the ABA number and account number on the bottom of your check. Savings account: Please verify the ABA number with your financial institution. Credit union: Please verify the ABA number with your credit union. They may use a different ABA number than the one on your check. - What is the cutoff time for entering payments?

By midnight (ET) of your payment date.
- When will my student loan account reflect my payment?

If you enter your payment information before 3:00 PM (ET) on your selected payment date, it's usually viewable online the following business day.
- Can I schedule payments in advance?

Yes. You can schedule your payments up to 60 days in advance.
Deducting payments
- When will you deduct the funds from my bank account?

Normally within the two days following your selected payment date.
- How can I confirm that you've withdrawn my payment from my account?

Contact your financial institution or check your account statement one to two business days following your payment date.
Your personal information
- Do I have to provide an email address to make online payments?

No. But, if we don't have it, we can't email you confirmation that we've received your payment.
It's also a reference if we have questions about your online payment.
- How secure is my personal information?

We use the most up-to-date encryption technology to ensure your account information is not available to outside sources.
In addition, we will never provide unauthorized third parties with information regarding how, when, or the amount you pay.
